Pokemon Brock's Journey To Parenthood Chapter 5:

Chapter 5:
Cerulean City:

After straightening up the cabin and making sure it was like they were never there, Brock, Ash, and Pikachu departed for Cerulean City.

They had stopped for breakfast at a local diner once they were in town and then headed towards the gym looking for Misty. It didn't take them long to find her. She was training with her Psyduck and Starmie.

“C'mon Psyduck! Stop standing there being silly! Defend yourself!” Misty screamed at it as it stood there while Starmie splashed it over and over. Finally Misty had had enough, she put them both back in their Pokeballs and was heading toward the back room when she spotted Ash and Brock. Her eyes lit up when she saw Ash but she tried to hide it. “Hey guys!” She cried heading over to them and giving them hugs.

“Hi Misty.” Ash said blushing a bit.

“Pleasure to see you again after so long Misty.” Brock smiled as she let go of him.

“It has been a while... So what's this big news that I just had to know?” Misty said with a grin as they walked toward the exit.

“Could we discuss it at your place... I'd rather not make it public.” Brock said looking around nervously.

“Um... Sure.” Misty said confused wondering what was making Brock so nervous.

Soon they were seated in Misty's apartment drinking lemonade and eating cheese with crackers.

“Mmm... Thanks for the lemonade and crackers Misty.” Ash commented as he took another cracker.

“Not a problem... So Brock what's going on?” Misty asked as Brock stared out at the city below them.

“It's a crazy story... I hope you can wrap your head around it.” Brock began.

“Is it Rosa?! Oh my gosh is she sick? Or ill?” Misty asked with worry.

Brock shook his head. “No Misty... Rosa's fine. Um... Quick question, how do you feel about babies?” Brock asked.

Misty's eyes lit up. “You guys serious?! Oh my goodness. Which Pokemon is pregnant?”

Brock sighed. “No Misty... It's not one of the Pokemon.”

Misty's reaction went back to her normal expression. “Okay so if it's not one of your Pokemon... Then... Oh?! Is it Rosa? Is Rosa finally pregnant?” She asked curiously.

“No it's not Rosa... It's me.” Brock answered still staring out the window.

Misty's eyes bugged out. “Huh? How are you pregnant?”

“I was born with an extra chromosome and the last time that me and Rosa tried for a baby it went to me instead of her.” Brock explained.

Misty soon smiled wide. “Wow... This is awesome! And how do you feel Brock?”

“Weird. I just feel so strange... It's like there really are no words to describe my feelings.” Brock said scoffing as someone almost ran a red light and then smiled as he saw Officer Jenny chase them down.

“So when is the baby due?” Misty asked as Brock sat down on the couch next to Ash.

“In eight months. I'm a month and a half along right now.” Brock answered placing a hand on his belly to quell the morning sickness pangs.

“This is amazing... Has this ever happen before? I mean to someone else?” She asked curiously.

“Not that I know of.” Brock answered. “Ash do you know of something like that ever happening?” He asked looking over at him.

“Nope. Not that I can recall anyway.” Ash answered as he watched Pikachu play with Togepi.

“It's still an interesting miracle of sorts. I mean goodness Brock, how're you gonna explain it to the child when he or she grows up?” Misty asked as she sipped her lemonade.

“That... I'll figure out when the time comes.” Brock said burping loudly. “Excuse me.” He muttered.

“Not a problem.” Misty said.

“Ugh! Excuse me!” Brock cried getting up and bolting down the hallway to the bathroom. The door slammed and next thing they heard was him retching.

“Is he going to be okay?” Misty asked with concern.

“Yeah according to this book he had, he'll have these puking spells for another two months.” Ash explained.

“Oh my gosh that's awful.” Misty exclaimed.

“Yeah and it can't end soon enough.” Brock growled as he came back into the living room and sat down next to Ash.

“Poor Brock I wish there was something we could do to help.” Misty said with a frown. “I mean having a baby is one thing but getting sick left and right doesn't sound fun in the least bit.” She declared.

“Short of possibly transferring the baby to you instead of me and having you be pregnant there really isn't much you can do.” Brock pointed out as he placed his hands on his belly.

Misty smiled. She had never seen this side of Brock before and watching him touch his belly every now and again made her smile. She then looked over at Ash. She had always loved him but never had the guts to tell him how she felt. And then just recently when she had went to the doctor and he had told her that she would never bare children and that had left her stunned. She had always wanted children of her own and in desperation had froze one of her own eggs to save for later. But now that Brock was pregnant... Maybe... Ash and her could...

“Misty you okay? You're awfully quiet.” Brock asked curiously as he continued to rub his belly.

“Yeah I'm fine.” She assured him.

“Pika Pi!” Pikachu said as it came over and sniffed Misty's hand.

“Pree Pi!” Togepi chirped as it also came over to Misty.

Brock rubbed his chin. He knew something was off with her but rather then pry her about it he would wait until the moment was right.

Later that night as they slept. Misty sat up and looked out the window. She slipped on her slippers and then walked down to the guest room. She almost opened the door and went in but stopped when she could hear Brock talking.

“... Well my little one... It's been almost a week since Mommy and I have found out about you. Mom I'm sure is super excited. It's not that I'm not excited but at the same time I can't help but be afraid for your safety... I mean I've never given birth before, it's not like you can practice for this... I mean you can but it's still gonna be unpredictable. And there's also that slim chance that you could get stuck while you're being born and that would really scare me. Maybe someday after you're born. Maybe Uncle Ash and Aunt Misty will give you some cousins. But only time will tell. I love you so much and can't wait to meet you.” Brock finished with a sigh.

Misty smiled softly. She knew Brock hid his tender side from almost everyone except for his siblings, so this was all new to her.

“Who's there?” Came Brock's voice startling her.

“It's me.” She squeaked revealing herself.

“Oh hey Misty.” Brock said with a smile. “Did I wake you?” He asked as he sipped a glass of water.

“No I was already awake... I was... Checking the alarm to make sure I set it.” She explained.

“Uh huh.” Brock said nodding his head though he was certain that there was another reason as to why she was up this late. “Well I'm off to bed. Good night Misty.” He said getting up and going over to the bed.

“Good night Brock.” She said as he climbed in and faced the wall. She took one last look at Ash and Pikachu sleeping on the top bunk and then headed back to her room. She removed her robe, climbed into bed, and laid there staring at the ceiling until sleep took over.
